THE PNEUMATIC BOOTS What
is it? This is a
device operated with inflating boots. It is
used in conjunction of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) to achieve better and
quicker results during MLD session.
It is used for:
How
does it work? The boots comprise of 5 chambers. The air is pumped
into each chamber starting from the ankles. This exerts pressure on the legs,
which shifts the fluid from the lower legs to the upper body. Meanwhile, the therapist by gentle skin manipulation clears the lymphatic pathways of the upper body: neck, armpit, abdomen and trunk to aid the flow of the fluid from the legs to the upper body. After 20min the boots are removed and the therapist
works manually on the legs and buttocks to enhance the flow of the fluid. The pressure created by the pumping movement is
extremely pleasant. After the treatment the client always feels lighter in the
legs. Caution: Lymphoedema and Lipoedema patients should not use the pneumatic boots to treat the oedema without the conjunction of MLD |
